The Pulltops – “Mission Control”

/

Milwaukee-based duo The Pulltops unveil another melodic success with “Mission Control,” enamoring with an approachable rock appeal amidst striving for greater confidence and a sense of future purpose. Ruminating rhythm guitars, twangy crispness, and steady vocal momentum combine for a climactic sound, as the lyrics as mission control: “Do you hear my plea? Can you guide me home?”

A particularly impactful range of vocal harmonizing takes hold past the two-minute turn, asking “can you save me, mission control?” into a satiating conclusion. The band has impressed with a variety of sounds across the past year, from the synth-driven anthem “3-2-1 Go!” to the funk-tinged vigor of “Waiting Here.” “Mission Control” is another riveting showcase in songwriting from the duo of drummer Mark Pierret and guitarist Tom Crowell, this time building with a patient intrigue into harmonious vocals and an easily digestible title-referencing hook.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
