Brooklyn-based artist Stefan Kristinkov delivers a strong atmospheric intrigue throughout the new album Notes Of The Observer, channeling new-age and electronic inspirations. Ranging from the frolicking, spacey vibrancy of the opening title track to the serenely balmy spaciousness within “Mirrored Lake,” the album succeeds with a colorful audible palate seemingly reflective of a cinematic experience — invoking an array of landscapes and energy in its various stimulating arrangements.
The album melds Kristinkov’s appreciation for nature with his talented skills as a clarinetists, intertwining seamlessly with electronic soundscapes. The “observer’s note” in the title refers to an emotional representation, aligning well with a call for listeners to embrace meditative elements, and reflect on profound conceptualizations.
A myriad of standouts show throughout. “On A Fading Rustle” weaves haunting woodwinds and glimmering synth intrigue for a chilling effect, while “Cracked Roots” touts a hazy envelopment with hints of jazz in the free-flowing instrumentation; the wave-like synth washes underneath lend a spine-tingling touch. “Fog Veiled Wonders” is another showcase in atmosphere, escalating wonderfully around the three-minute mark into a bursting swell of synths and emotion. Notes Of The Observer is a compelling listening experience throughout from Stefan Kristinkov.
