Slow Collision – “Drive”

/

A melodic blend of post-punk and rock stir on “Drive,” a replay-inducing new single from Slow Collision. The release comes via their upcoming sophomore EP, I’m Too High, I Can’t Jump. Fronted by the writing, production, and performance of Nick Greenberg, Slow Collision achieves a stylishly melodic rock sound with this memorable single, effectively conveying thematic desires for control and renewal within a chaotic world.

“Is that what it means to be free?” Greenberg’s vocals ask during the engrossing chorus, driving into a moody guitar spell thereafter as a riveting conclusion aligns with a “or give up control,” introspection. Everyday life is ripe with anxieties and pressures — resulting in relatable feelings of running away and starting anew. The track successfully navigates a crossroads in one’s life, weighing freedoms — and the chance for self-betterment and renewal — against the more predictable elements of life, and all their creature comforts. “Drive” is a resonating showing from Slow Collision.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
