SIESKI – “Gumdrops”

/

Vancouver-based artist SIESKI melds electro-pop and house immersion on new single “Gumdrops,” conveying smitten sentiments within a blissful yet grooving sound. The multi-disciplinary, queer artist fully succeeds on this follow-up to her cover of “Lunch” in June, released for Pride Month. “Gumdrops” is further exemplary of SIESKI’s ability to craft memorable hooks within stirring electronic soundscapes.

Spacey synths complement a debonair vocal presence and pulsing percussive momentum, exuding “all the pain it seems to fade away,” within an aptly hypnotic caressing. Danceable piano-laden snippets enter as the vocals assume various layers and launch into a riveting hook — “I can’t stop thinking ’bout you,” — that balances excitably infectious electro-pop appeal and dreamy vocal immersion. The “no limitations,” bridge is especially compelling, further embracing a serene synth-forward build. “Gumdrops” is a replay-inducing, atmospheric pop mover from SIESKI.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
