Sean Davis Newton – “Glass Eye”

/

Showing an arsenal of introspective folk and vintage rock warmness alike, “Glass Eye” is a new single from Sean Davis Newton. The track comes via the upcoming debut album Bird Brain, out on October 18th. Newton describes the lead single as an “acoustic nonsense rock song, as inspired by the Talking Heads as it is by Pavement or Blake Mills.”

“You never liked my glass eye,” Newton sings during a particularly memorable hook, complemented by frolicking piano and twanging guitar accompaniments. The traversal there, from plucky acoustic backing to wavering electric guitar pulses, displays enjoyable momentum. “Glass Eye” has us firmly anticipating Newton’s upcoming album.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
