Quality Living – ‘Aggro Crag EP’

New Jersey-based band Quality Living reveal a colorful, dynamic rock appeal on their four-song EP Aggrocrag, maintaining hooky immediacy amidst evolving structures fond of jazz-touched guitar work, twinkling illumination, and radiant vocal hooks.

The EP’s title track is immediately exemplary of the project’s knack for a dynamic, evolving song structures. Caressing synths and balmy guitars lead initially, complementing an emotive vocal presence as brassy warmness follows. The “talk about,” refrain builds with particular infectiousness into a melodic turn, and the track overall excels with a sound stirring in both expressive vocal elements and easy-going introspection.

The engaging “The Great Kabash” follows with a starry-eyed illumination; synth-drawn mystique builds seamlessly into nocturnal guitar twangs. “Burgers and dogs,” the vocals let out as pulsing synths and smooth brass enter, culminating in a gorgeous sophisti-pop arsenal with debonair guitars and lingering saxophone. “Daydream” is another stirring showcase in songwriting, arriving in a cathartic “all I want,” vocal outpouring and ensuing delightful melodic tiwst. Aggro Crag is a stellar EP from Quality Living.
