Oh Canal – “Moth Song”

/

Brooklyn-based solo project Oh Canal combines lush acoustical introspection and twanging guitar delights on “Moth Song,” conjuring a sound reminiscent of Andrew Bird in the vocal tone and instrumentation’s dynamics. The approach to the three-minute turn is particularly compelling, building with charming folk-set readiness into blaring guitar bursts.

The lyrical content also proves memorable, invoking a “head full of moths,” in potentially invoking the complexities of relationships plagued by various insecurities. “You only loved me ’cause I loved you back,” reflects a cathartic realization on conditional love, traversing smoothly into a whistling adornment to close out this fully memorable success from Oh Canal.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
