A hazy, hooky rock sound shows across “Quiet Thing,” a newly released track from Neato. The Burlington, VT-based band excel in bridging a nostalgic rock appeal — showing shades of throwback power-pop and ’90s alt-rock — with themes that align well with the retrospective allure. As the band explains: “This song is sort of about the future nostalgia of being a student or a young person. Feeling like you’re running out of special moments and time. That sort of thing.”
Marking the first single from their forthcoming EP, “Quiet Thing” enamors in its jangly ascent and culminating “it’s too bad,” slacker-ish intrigue — then approaching the two-minute turn with a darker guitar-fronted mystique. “Quiet Thing” is a charmingly melodic success with an enjoyable dose of tonal versatility. We’re anticipating that upcoming EP, for sure.
