Nathalie Bonin – “Stormy Skies”

A cinematic, eclectic tonal range stirs on “Stormy Skies,” a new track from Nathalie Bonin that envelops in its array of nightmare-ish creeping and vibrant ardency alike. The Los Angeles-based artist invigorates with a swelling structural charisma on the track, which was co-produced with Janis Eglitis at Audilla. Bonin first caught our attention with collaborative album Taste of Light earlier this year, and “Stormy SKies” continues to show the artist’s atmospheric mastery.

An eerie spaciousness takes hold from the get-go, as whimpering strings and creeping piano assemble with intrigue. A chilly prancing past the one-minute turn transforms into a whirring string-forward momentum; this feeling of triumph appears impactfully following the initial wintry spells. Wordless vocal effects add to the haunting vigor as the final minute arrives, and so do a final push of emotive string expressions. “Stormy Skies” is an invigorating, atmospheric showing from Nathalie Bonin.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Rainy Days’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
