Seattle-based singer/songwriter Josh Jensen struts a warming, bluesy rock composure on new single “Wanderlust Highway,” also featuring Alex Capron on saxophone — which adds an enchanting lushness between the heartfelt vocals, guitars, and keys, courtesy of Jensen. The melodic release is described as “a passionate entreaty to give in to the yearning for exploration and adventure that is endemic to us all.”
Initial lyrical laments of feeling “broken and tethered,” resonate amidst bluesy guitar understatements and glistening keys. The “lock step and groove,” line builds into the title-referencing chorus, encouraging to throw your “love in the backseat,” and embrace a sense of spontaneity, as the wind blows. “I got you on my mind,” the tender, debonair vocals admit. Nocturnal-friendly keys drive into the two-minute turn, as the sea breeze greets listeners. Capron’s gorgeous saxophone enters thereafter, adding a slithering, laid-back intrigue to the compelling overall mix. “Wanderlust Highway” is an enjoyable standout from Josh Jensen.
