Infinitefreefall – “Desecrated Landscape”

//

An enthralling track out today from Infinitefreefall, “Desecrated Landscape” melds post-punk and artful rock intrigue. The Charleston-based project of producer Maxton Stenstrom thoroughly impresses with this moody single, which releases ahead of their upcoming album, Belief Systems, out later this year. In addition to Stenstrom on vocals and guitar, the project’s new lineup features Loren Jolley on synth and vocals, Bradley “Bayou” Simmons on bass, and Shawn Krauss on drums.

The sound within “Desecrated Landscape” marks a continuation of more rock-forward embrace from the act, an aesthetical direction kick-started by 2023 full-length Catastrophe Magnet. “Desecrated Landscape” builds from nocturnal guitar crawls in a bursting array of jangling, moving into “thought it would be easy,” vocal admissions. Aesthetically conjuring a post-punk nostalgia in the vein of The Chameleons UK with a more modern pop punch, “Desecrated Landscape” thoroughly compels — especially in the “it’s the monster I created,” chorus, feeling both introspective and anthemic. We’re highly anticipating the upcoming Belief Systems.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
