Boston-based artist Indiana Rich struts an emotive, melodic pop envelopment on the new album GEMINI. Synths are a frequent accompaniment to the artist’s dynamic vocal presence, which show a tendency to swell from more subdued introspection into a sense of triumphant soaring; such is the case on standout track “When You Say You Love Me…” and its evolution from piano-touched self-questioning into empowering ardency.
The album’s highlights continue from there, from the playfully plucky effervescence of “Strawberry Lane” to the poignant wit within “Just Google It!” — musing on how search result tendencies can inspire medical-induced anxieties. “Click on WebMD; it says you’re gonna die tomorrow,” the vocals let out, reminding fondly of Sparks in the humorously synth-forward aesthetical vein. “Play The Game” is another gem, infusing delectably eerie organs and responsive vocal layers with replay-inducing qualities. GEMINI is an artful, inventive pop success from Indiana Rich.
“GEMINI is an extremely personal album to me,” the artist explains. “It is my response to the challenges of being a young adult in today’s world. My lyrics address topics that are important to me: Appreciation, healing, and vibrant growth. When people listen to this project my hope is first and foremost that they’re entertained and are also inspired to stand strong and be optimistic.”
