Unveiling his third single since catching our ears with the debuting “Inside the City” in April, Hays Dowdy achieves a fervent rock sound with his latest, “Voodoo Doll.”
Alongside the lushly magnetic vocal accompaniments of Abby Sevcik, Dowdy delivers a memorable production that spans from harmonious dual-vocal engagement to a blistering guitar solo, taking hold at the two-minute turn. “I gotta wait it out now,” the vocalists launch into thereafter, into the foreboding “I can hear her laughter,” references to the voodoo doll. The mid-point key change, soaring guitar work, fervent vocal performances, and fantastic drumming from Mike Ross lead another riveting showcase from Hays Dowdy.
