Found Instruments – “You’re Not Alone”

/

A mellow reassurance permeates throughout “You’re Not Alone,” an enchanting new single from Found Instruments, the solo project of UK-based singer/songwriter Jack Joseph Titcombe. The production enamors with a hypnotic, mellow glow — melding bouncy keys, debonair vocals, and a general mystique; its riveting atmosphere resembles a cross of Twin Peaks intrigue and Beach Boys-esque (particularly in the Dennis Wilson solo vein) sunset fixations.

The title-touting vocal salutations combine beautifully with the caressing synth tones and playful Casio keys, set amidst a tranquil rhythm section. “Sometimes I don’t feel like myself, and I just can’t figure it out,” the vulnerable lyrics further, exuding a melancholy as a beloved drifts away alongside the dazed arsenal. “I like to think of it as a gentle hand on the shoulder in reassurance to a friend, partner or sibling that everything will be ok,” Titcombe says of the track, which lingers with a meditative and comforting charm.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
