Faded – ‘Found Sound’

Jangle-rock and alt-pop allure shows throughout Found Sound, a fantastic new album from FADED. Hailing from the Scottish/English border, the band excel with a moody, melodic intrigue throughout. “The Voiceless” sets the album into motion with stylish entrancement, reminiscent of Prefab Sprout in the western-y sophisti-pop ascent from harmonica flourishes in twangy guitars and strings. The vocals emerge with a coolness reminiscent of The Church, admitting “can’t take no more,” with climactic precision; it’s a replay-inducing standout to kick off this memorable full-length.

A stellar sound continues throughout on more subdued successes, ranging from the haunting backing vocal adornments on “Love Is” to the wintry piano-set introspection within “Every Broken Morning.” The latter is particularly impactful as utterly gorgeous strings enter as vocals describe the sun setting. Faded show a dynamic, emotive sound throughout, and it consistently impresses across the album’s 12 tracks. “Like A Lover” closes the release with a fittingly emotive showing, asking “will it change the way we feel around each other?” into lush strings, twinkling keys, and warming acoustics; it blends sincere balladry and alt-pop hookiness with charming immersion. Found Sound is a thorough success from Faded.

“The Voiceless” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
