Eddy Mann – “I’m Coming”

/

Philadelphia-based artist Eddy Mann struts a debonair insight on recent single “I’m Coming,” immersing in its soulful vocal strides and tender guitar smoothness. “I’m coming,” the artist’s vocals swelter during the central chorus, surrounded by moody backing vocals and an ensuing jazzy fusing of guitars, piano, and bass. A Christian folk-rock artist, Mann impresses with lyrical insight and a confident musical drive, aesthetically showing enjoyable shades of Steely Dan.

The track’s thematic emphasis is on the comfort and connection that God can provide people, per Mann. “”There’s an illogical foolishness in attempting to hide anything from an all-knowing God; you just can’t hide a single thing, ever!” Mann says. “But with that comes the comfort of knowing that His closeness provides a constant connection to us, which in turn reminds us that at all times, and in all places, to hold on tightly, because He’s coming …He’s coming to shepherd His love.”

A multitude of catching moments show throughout, from the twanging guitar burst past the one-minute mark and “you know the things that I do,” admissions, to the title-touting vocal reassurances. “I’m Coming” is a suavely effective showcase from Mann, lyrically capturing the power of faith and acknowledgements of personal support.
