Bunch of Others – “Cellar Door”

/

Canadian psych-rockers Bunch of Others unveil a compelling mystique on “Cellar Door,” where hazy guitars and climactic vocals build into a gripping expanse — with flourishing woodwinds and perky brass adornments.

The track’s vocal passion, particularly in its “all around me,” recollections, remind fondly of later-era Supergrass. A particularly catching twist arrives around 02:30, when twangy guitars swell into the dream-reflecting lyrics and bouncy keys. “Cellar Door” is abundant with contagious melodic twists and cohesive instrumentation, particularly in the form of warming brass; this is a standout production from Bunch of Others.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
