Alex Zethson – “Terrella”

//

A serenely contemplative success, “Terrella” is a solo piano piece from Stockholm-based artist Alex Zethson. A delicate tonal direction delivers a memorably emotive impact in its subtle swells, moving from pulsing steadiness into a flourishing additional layer — exuding a gentle charm as bouncy piano complements adorn the initial prancing. The left hand maneuvers a trickling sense of melancholic momentum, while the right portrays an effervescent whimsy in its gentle pulsations; the result is one with striking atmosphere and melodic entrancement.

The pianist and composer is also a member of the projects Angles and Goran Kajfes Tropiques, in addition to performing frequently with the acts Fire! Orchestra, Sven Wunder and Mariam the Believer. Zethson’s music flows with an easy-going lushness yet also a commanding sense of climactic engrossment, ideal for deep introspection as the snow or rain lightly falls. “Terrella” is incredibly easy to get lost within.

This and other tracks can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Obscure Ambient’ Spotify playlist.
