Will Artificial Intelligence Bring About New Genres of Music?

Artificial intelligence is poised to tear up the rulebook on just about everything in society. Along with changing how people work, it’s also creeping into the entertainment industry in various ways.

There are already numerous AI music programs that assist in composition and production. It may not be long before technology brings about new genres of music that have never been discovered before.

Entertainment Industry Always Adapts to New Tech

With AI likely to be a disruptive technology, it’s safe to assume that it will have a major impact on entertainment. Some of the world’s greatest industries adapt to new technology when it emerges to try to get ahead of the competition.

For example, people who play the online casino for cash at Paddy’s will be pleased to know that it aims to stay ahead of the crowd with innovations. It uses Infrastructure 2, which involves a private cloud where all its software is held. This means that players can enjoy titles like Wolf It Up and Paddy’s Mansion Heist Live without any worry of them failing.

AI is already being used on streaming sites, with Netflix famously showing different options to different people. AI is being used on music apps like Spotify as well, which can curate playlists based on individual users’ specific tastes. The algorithm is so intricate that each user gets their own bespoke experience on the app.

How is AI Being Used in Music?

AI is now starting to have more of an influence on the way music is made, beginning from the composition stage. A good example of this is AIVA, which has been trained on a vast dataset of classical music from some of the world’s greatest composers. It can churn out original pieces in the style of legends such as Beethoven and Mozart, with innovative twists on their styles.

Amper Music is another tool that gives users the power to set parameters such as mood and style. It then creates compositions that can be used across various media, such as YouTube videos and games. There are also some handy AI platforms that are helping with music production. LANDR, for instance, is an AI-driven mastering service that can optimize tracks to meet professional standards.

The Potential for New Music Genres

With all these different applications of AI having such an amazing impact already, it feels like the sky is the limit for the technology in music. There have already been some examples of AI creating new genres, with OpenAI’s MuseNet able to compose music in various styles by understanding patterns in different genres.

AI is clearly having an impact on music and could generate new styles for people to listen to that may be popular in the future. One of the best innovations so far has been in the blending of different genres, and this can create novel experiences that defy traditional genre boundaries.
