The Rough Shapes – “Flashback Insomniac”

/

A nostalgic ’80s rock charisma unveils on “Flashback Insomniac,” a recent track from The Rough Shapes. Debonair vocals encourage to “take control,” as fluid guitars ascend into spacey synths; the vocals ascend in pitch here, continuing the palpable momentum as the synths glisten with powerful impact alongside the fervent guitars. The vocal range past the three-minute furthers that ’80s-friendly passion.

The “make decisions,” uptick thereafter is fully replay-inducing, especially as a feverish vocal swell shows anthemic appeal thereafter. The “living in a time machine,” line is especially apt, as the track exudes a throwback sound that maintains exuberance and ingenuity even within its retro-minded embrace. We’re excited to hear what’s next from The Rough Shapes.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
