Milwaukee-based band The Pulltops have impressed with a variety of successful singles the past year, from the country-touched power-pop appeal of “Here We Are” to the synth-laden rock of “3-2-1 Go!” — all touting hook-filled, quality productions. “Waiting Here” is their latest delight, thoroughly gripping in its combination of “since you’ve gone away,” vocal yearning, funky guitar work, and synth-bass infusions.
“I’m just waiting, until my ship appears,” the vocals repeat during the gripping chorus, complemented by soaring synth touches and steady guitar elements. The band continues to captivate in their conveying of the human condition; with “Waiting Here,” feelings of yearning are palpably and artfully delivered. Simmering verses, emitting a sense of striving to save oneself from a sort of perpetual longing, culminate with cathartic impact into the title-referencing hook. “Waiting Here” is another charmer from The Pulltops.
