A powerful new single from Simrit, “Love Will Rule the Day” builds with trickling momentum into flourishing strings and powerful vocal refrains. The project is led by Simrit on vocals, harmonium, and keys. “The song is about how life is very precious and love powers over everything,” Simrit explains. The Nevada City-based band also comprises Salif Bamakora on the 21-string West African kora, Shannon Hayden on electric cello and guitar, Jared May on bass and Moog synthesizer, and Devon Ashley on drums.
“Life is very precious,” Simrit’s vocals emphasize to start, hypnotizing amidst the plucky glistening. The title-touting vocal rise emphasizes the word “love,” in expressive form, moving into a gripping second half with more panting rhythmic excitement and gorgeous string arrangements. The gradual expansion in instrumentation melds with the fierce vocal repetition for a commanding, replay-inducing sound — exuding a meditative, important ethos to recognize the precious beauty of life, and how love can play such a pivotal role in betterment. “Love Will Rule the Day” is a fully resonating success from Simrit.
