Los Angeles-based artist Rich Delinquent continues to ascend with a compelling pop sound, which on new single “Sleepwalking With The Dead” embraces an emotronic direction. Featuring 7evin7ins, the track consumes from the get-go. Verses strut a nocturnal intrigue with the buzzing bass and understated synths, complemented by moody vocals. The “lost my mind,” vocal rise grips in its “I don’t wanna be here anymore,” confessions, as more percussive vibrancy bolsters the vocal theatrics.
An ensuing “I need help,” refrain furthers the personal, tortured enigma that’s conveyed via the vocal emotional and lyrical insight. The production is atmospheric and climactic, and shows why the project has conjured comparisons to The Weeknd. “Sleepwalking With The Dead” is a thorough success that cohesively balances angsty builds with a “lost my mind,” cathartic vocal outpouring.
Rich Delinquent explains: “Navigating life as if trapped in a dystopian dream, yearning for the awakening embrace of normalcy— this is the eerie dance of the Sleepwalking with the Dead.”
