PsiloMine Sun – “Fables”

/

Presenting a gorgeously hypnotic psych-pop pull, “Fables” is a stirring new single from Chicago-based trio PsiloMine Sun. The track represents the second single from their forthcoming album, Instrumentality. Their layered, haunting sound aligns with their tagline: “Music for psychedelic integration and beyond.” Meditative-friendly soundscapes persist on previously featured debut single “Fall Back” and now here, with the stunning “Fables.”

It’s apt that the project’s members are anonymous, as the sounds they craft feel steeped in enigma, as well. Such is the case as “Fables” unfolds with ample intrigue; simmering vocal bellowing and pit-pattering percussive flair combine for a caressingly melodic glow. The backing vocal effects emit a meditation-like breathing as the lead exhibits a glistening composure as trickling guitars hit past the first minute.

An ominous break in percussion past the three-minute mark exudes a nocturnal grip, culminating in brass-y elongation that furthers the track’s already-astonishing soundscape; shades of later-era Talk Talk show in this compelling conclusion. “Fables” is another thorough success from PsiloMine Sun, whose upcoming album we’re surely anticipating.
