Phantom Handshakes – “Good Intentions”

/

NYC-based band Phantom Handshakes strut a hazy, jangly immersion on recent single “Good Intentions.” The track represents the first single from their upcoming LP, Sirens At Golden Hour, out on August 21st. Chillingly serene vocals enter, lamenting “the sun can sleep for months,” as the flickering guitars and warming bass line correspond enjoyably. The vocals ascend beautifully as spacey synth infusions enter subtly. The duo of Matt Sklar and Federica Tassano continue to impress.

Phantom Handshakes describe the release’s thematic approach:

“The song explores how, despite our best intentions, we sometimes fall short of achieving the goals we set out for ourselves, possibly due to bad days, anxiety, or mental and physical issues. And It’s perfectly okay to take a step back, proceed at a slower pace, adjust our objectives. However, this can be difficult to accept in a society that values efficiency and success as top qualities.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
