Partners in Crime – “Randy Girls”

/

“Randy Girls” is an enthused power-pop success from Toronto-based band Partners in Crime. Chirpy guitars arrive into the “gonna take a vacation,” declaration. The ensuing brass-laden fervency complements a sense of escapism, away from kids and stresses, as one indulges in a blissful nonchalance. The summer-friendly invigoration is evident quickly, and continues into a jubilant title-referencing refrain that oozes with nostalgic power-pop appeal. A saxophone solo follows with delectable immersion, as does the guitar work that follows in charismatic form.

The first track from Partners in Crime’s self-titled new album, “Randy Girls” is described by the band as “about being carefree and going on a vacation and meeting beautiful girls.” The duo of Colin Whiteford and Doug Pegg strut consistently engaging songwriting throughout the release, bolstered by sharp production from Terry Gadsden and Fred Kinck Petersen. “Randy Girls” continues to accumulate airplay, and with a summer-forward embrace seems poised to continue its rise in the months ahead.
