Michelle Thibodeaux – “Unemployment”

/

Poignant ruminations on life’s uncertainties resonate within a folk-pop aesthetical enamoring “Unemployment,” a recent track from Michelle Thibodeaux. The Portland, Oregon-based singer/songwriter sings how “the universe knocked me off my feet,” amidst frolicking piano, driving into a more barren acoustic-set “I haven’t been sleeping,” admissions — as thoughts run rapidly through one’s mind, with a turbulent array of obligations and past-due notices appearing like flashing lights.

A synth-laden infusion during the “while I look for work,” yearning bolsters the compelling melodic navigation, relatable and heartfelt into the “so I can pay my rent,” obligations. “Unemployment” is a strongly written success that effectively captures the difficulties of navigating adulthood, even when effort and motivation are not an issue. The track marks one of many successes on Thibodeaux’s new album, Forest Green, streaming below:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
