Matt Saxton – “The Edge of Things”

/

The second single from Matt Saxton‘s upcoming album, “The Edge of Things” finds the East Sussex-based artist continue a heartfelt, relatable vein of songwriting. Folk, rock, and pop elements intertwine alongside thematic aspirations to move beyond the social fringes of activity to something more meaningful and connected.

“I’m on the edge of things,” Saxton sings amidst an illuminated backing, which swells seamlessly from piano/organ interplay into bursting brassiness. “I feel like I’m in someone else’s film, like an extra who’s made to stand still,” continues a sense of isolation though a hope for something more, stirring in its introspective sincerity.

The multi-vocal impact during the chorus’ call-and-response is especially compelling, as is the smooth saxophone conclusion. “The Edge of Things” marks another success for Saxton, who has impressed previously with “Freedom” and “Take It Or Leave It.”

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
