John Tibbits – “Trumped Up”

/

London-based artist John Tibbits poignantly explores the effect of demagogues, and ensuing followers, on the impactful new track “Trumped Up.” The lyrics show the perspective of a follower, willing to do anything possible to accomplish their leader’s goals — no matter how immoral or illegal. “Trumped Up” represents the second of three singles releasing ahead of his debut album.

The track journeys from introspective folk-set intrigue into a rock-friendly ardency. Brisk acoustics are quickly accompanied by a bass-y reflection. Enveloping vocals and chirpy guitar tones arise thereafter, as the vocals ask “just tell me what I can do,” in the electrifying chorus — artfully conveying blind adoration brought on by desperation. “I’ll follow you ’til the end, hypnotize me with all your tales,” they continue. A scorching guitar solo past the two-minute turn builds into a satiating conclusion, bringing to a close this firm success from John Tibbits.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
