Jellyka – “Paper Game”

/

Belgium-based artist Jellyka envelops with a dark synth/guitar momentum on new single “Paper Game.” Steady percussive pulses and warbled, industrial synth tones guide into a nonchalant vocal momentum. Smatterings of guitar appear in enjoyably sporadic form, as the vocals convey that they’re “patiently waiting,” and asking “do you hear me now?” as further guitar enhancements arrive. “Trying to play the game,” they continue into the title-referencing hook. The post-punk guitar tones and synth-forward minimalism combine with the fierce vocal confidence for a stylishly melodic success from Jellyka.

“It’s all about the vibe,” the producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist explains of his music. Specific genres, instrumentation, or vocals need no apply; Jellyka shows a strong tendency to strut an atmospheric appeal within stylishly constructed momentum, as is the case on “Paper Game,” where a delectably dark pop sound enamors via the debonair vocals and murkily engaging instrumentation. We’re excited to hear what’s next from this emerging artist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
