Houston in the Blind – “Dreams”

/

“Dreams” is an enveloping new single from Houston in the Blind, a project based in Athens, GA. Crisp guitar twangs and lush acoustics craft a serenely inviting introduction. “In life, storms come and go, some more severe than others,” the artist says of the track. “At times, all your energy is spent just trying to stay afloat.” The track’s themes and production resonate with replay-inducing qualities. “I’m watching you slowly pull away out of my view,” the vocals lament, exuding a chilly folk introspection.

Pit-pattering percussion escalates into the blissful “dreams come, and they run away,” hook — presenting a stately “some things last, some things fade,” reminder of love’s complex journeys. “In a storm, we were born,” signals a textured expanse, with hints of string-laden majesty lingering beneath the emotive vocal layers. Visions of breaking through the clouds, and yearning to “feel you,” arises into a stellar guitar solo, with shades of The War on Drugs. “Dreams” is a memorable standout from Houston in the Blind.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
