COVVES – “Sleepwalking”

/

“Sleepwalking” blends atmospheric synths and guitar-laden momentum with a nocturnal glow — “city never sleeps,” — for a captivating sound from Munich-based act COVVES. Asking if “I’m sleepwalking all my life?” compels within the audible doses of ’80s nostalgia, especially prominent in the verses’ build of playful synths and “check my luggage, where are you?” ascent. Electronic vocal effects further the inviting soundscape, driving into the “am I sleepwalking?” refrain for a final, satiating oomph.

“Sleepwalking” represents the first single from a forthcoming EP, and the band describes the track as “about breaking out of everyday life, about hope, the sparkle of club lights and eyes, about failure and the new things that could arise from it. About sweat, smoke, fog and the rain.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
