BADTALKERS – “Burn My Friends”

/

Described as a track “about cutting off all your toxic friends,” “Burn My Friends” is a cathartic success with a catchy alternative pop/rock intertwining, courtesy of Compton-based act BADTALKERS. The main chorus — “gotta let ’em go,” — conjures a fun sense of ’90s rock nostalgia, with the contagious vocal refrain, angst-y vocals, and distorted guitars reminding enjoyably of early Weezer. “I used to always be a nice guy,” the more debonair verses begin, reflecting with a bit of wistful nostalgia — though arriving in a definitive choice to shed the toxicity and “let ’em go.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
