Will Pope – “Rooftops”

//

London-based folk artist Will Pope enamors on new single “Rooftops,” which ascends from trickling acoustics into gorgeous string arrangements amidst Pope’s stirring vocals. The “kitchen sink,” line ushers in those illuminated strings, adding a cinematic quality in sporadic form as frolicking guitars inject a more traditional folk core. The “sat up on the rooftops,” vocal soaring is spine-tingling in its incorporation of vocal soaring and majestic strings — culminating with a “memories I have of you,” reflection, adding to the heartrending captivation.

Recently signed to Revolver Records, Pope’s releases thus far have impressed with its fusing of roots and folk with elements like jazz and chamber-pop. He also takes inspiration from his experience previously living in Beijing. We’re absolutely looking forward to the next output from Pope.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
