Twnie – ‘Apparition Liminale’

Massachusetts-based band Twnie unveil a strong rock sound on their new album Apparition Liminale. A hazy, lushly melodic sound takes hold throughout, from the serenely jangling introspection of “Burlington Mall” and its ascent into mall-loving distortion, to the playful synth-laden vulnerabilities within “Love is All We’ve Got.” The band pairs a harmonious, serene rock sound with thematic examinations of “self-awareness, romanticism, and western identity.”

Balancing the thematic prowess of self-doubt with a gripping tonal evolution, “Fall in Love” is another album standout. “I think I might go insane,” the vocals admit, driving into a smitten, swooning vocal presence that affirms then band’s emotive range. “On the Street Alone” also stirs with its late-night guitar twangs, while “Stay Home” concludes the album with an elegant piano-touched spaciousness. Apparition Liminale is a consistently engaging album from Twnie.

“Fall in Love,” “Love is All We’ve Got,” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
