London-based band The Shining Tongues unveil a compelling sound across their new album This Body Of Mine Will Disintegrate, described as “an hallucinogenic meditation on impermanence.” An eclectic stylistic palate emerges, intertwining folk, art-rock, psychedelic, and ambient drone inspirations into a cohesive and emotively impactful sound. The songwriting vehicel of Daniel Knowler (The Infinite Three, Cindytalk, Sweetie), The recording of This Body Of Mine Will Disintegrate features the band’s live lineup, comprising Daniel, Sam, Robin Jax, and Willie Nash.
Album single “Visions From Pig” drives on a mixture of illuminated backing keys — glistening with an aquatic feeling — amidst rumbling bass and suave guitar adornments. A steady vocal momentum appears, and culminates in a jangly exuberance past the mid-point; the ascension is melodic and memorable. Another highlight, “Sleeping Breathing” brings forth a more rock-forward immediacy, invigorating with an amply climactic twist at the two-minute turn, with a delectably eerie psychedelic vigor. The gorgeous orchestral swell within “Wonderful Pig” is another showcase of the project’s fantastic songwriting and production, evident throughout the album.
