Patti Spadaro Band – “Glass Shatters”

“Glass Shatters” is a resonating, soaring single from Pittsburgh-based Patti Spadaro Band, who describe the release as a “rallying cry,” to unite and celebrate women’s progress. The release takes specific inspiration from the swearing-in of the first female Vice President of the United States. Five women harmonzie their voices on this memorable track, including Spadaro on guitar and Anne Celedonia on keys, in addition to background vocalists Cherylann Hawk, Jill Simmons, and Alison McTavis.

“Put on your sneakers, turn up your speakers, and dance,” the vocals declare with jubilant effect, as twanging guitars soar. A harmonious vocal effect adds to the multiple leads, culminating with catharsis into the “we should be waking up to celebration.” The guitar work dazzles throughout with a fusing of psychedelic, southern-rock, and pop/rock sentiments, and especially as the vocals fade and give way. The expressive vocal layers converge tastefully; the “rising up through the mud,” piano-laden flourishes shows ample momentum into the satiating conclusion. “Glass Shatters” is a memorable output from Patti Spadaro Band.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
