A new EP from NYC-based project Mortal Prophets, Brian Eno In Heaven shows an abundance of melodic and atmospheric intrigue — continuing a very strong string of releases from Mortal Prophets, led by the artist John Beckmann. Already standing out with a variety of releases in 2024, Mortal Prophets enthralls with a wide range of successes on this EP — from the icy-cold lushness of “Mesmer On Holiday” to the rhythmic bustle within “Fraulein Anna Sprengel,” described as “a wink and a nod to the mysterious origins of The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.”
Opening track “Drowned Lands” immerses with a climactic unfolding. Airy textures converge with trickling synth whirring for an enjoyable momentum, evolving thereafter into a glimmering and spacey illumination; it’s a gorgeous opener to this impressive EP. The closing, title track is succeeds as well, venturing from quaint guitars into a symphonic-feeling exuberance. Brian Eno In Heaven is another shining success from Mortal Prophets.
