Marginalia – “Sparkler Hair”

/

“Sparkler Hair” is a climactic, expansive production from Canadian act Marginalia. The track unfolds with gradual, rewarding impact. Spacey synth frequencies, throbbing like a sonar pulse, are complemented by wordless vocal intrigue and eventual rhythmic propulsions. More upfront vocal immersion appears prior to the two-minute mark, bringing forth an art-pop appeal reminiscent of Animal Collective. The various vocal layers meld seamlessly alongside a jungle-like atmospheric engrossment.

The project comprises members in various cities, including Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal. Their shared love for immersive soundscapes and rewarding structural builds result in a riveting sound, melding electronic, ambient, and pop elements for a strongly memorable byproduct. Per the act, the track “tells a story of rediscovering the joys of youth through intimate connection.” “Sparkler Hair” represents the third single so far this year from Marginalia, who seem poised for continued ascent.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
