Doc Rhombus – “Nature of the Beast” + “Lost”

/

Two new tracks from Doc Rhombus continue to emphasize the Minneapolis-based producer’s knack for hooky yet lush pop movers. First catching our ears in 2022 with the album Retroactions, Doc Rhombus shows strongly again on the latest album, Distant Generation, described as “inspired by fears and insecurities about aging, loneliness, reliance on technology, and society spiraling out of control.”

These two cuts stand amongst the more groove-friendly tracks on the album, which generally struts a more downtempo, darker sound. “Nature of the Beast” shows a playful effervescence with shades of Hot Chip apparent in the “falling in love,” hook, while “Lost” struts a funky serenity that quickly hooks within the “have so much to say,” rhythmic uptick in intensity.
