Casual Americans – “Cowards”

/

A hooky and warming alt-pop and rock sound shows on “Coward,” a memorable single from Casual Americans, a band formed in Athens, Georgia. “Do we wanna start a war? Because I might be a coward,” the vocals confess, venturing into twangy guitars and breezy vocals reflections for an easy-going melodic appeal. “It’s all a game,” they further during a warming hook; the glistening guitar strums and soaring vocal inflection exudes a ’90s nostalgic blissfulness.

“It’s so much easier to play along, and do nothing at all,” they contemplate an easy, yet less rewarding, path — though re-emerging with a vigor in the “I’m here to stay,” declaration. “Cowards” is a fully engaging success from Casual Americans, who intertwine a lyrical sense of perseverance with an approachably melodic rock and pop airiness. We’re looking forward to whatever’s next from this ascending project.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
