Alexei Shishkin – “Rose Gold”

/

“Rose Gold” is a debonair rock charmer from Alexei Shishkin. Twangy guitars and bouncy bass complement the suave vocal delivery, successfully capturing a throwback rock nostalgia — described by the artist as “my attempt at making a Grateful Dead-esque, loose, jammy song, but it might have accidentally ended up more Springsteen-y (which is ironic because I think I’ve heard maybe 3 Springsteen songs in my entire life).”

The brass-y components past the first minute conjure that Springsteen-esque charm, while the rollicking rock entry and bridges conjure the Grateful Dead within the verses. A blend of comforting rock familiarity with captivating original songwriting, “Rose Gold” is another strong showing from Shishkin, who first caught our ears last month with the track “Bermuda.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
