Cincinnati-based band Trapt preview their upcoming album The Fall with a compelling new EP, entitled Teaser #2. Five album songs are included within, touting the band’s emotionally charged, hooky alt-rock sound.
“Halo” is a consuming opener. “Thought I was a good man,” a resonating vocal call lets out, thematically gripping in struggles to forgive oneself, beckoning to “send me an angel; I need a light to guide me home.” The guitar-fronted arsenal, with sporadic piano touches, plays melodically alongside the confessional vocal spiritedness. A soaring guitar line at the two-minute mark sends chills alongside backing vocal harmonizing. “Think of You” follows with similarly emotive charm, traversing into the “when I think of you,” outpouring with a commanding sense of momentum.
A resonating EP finale, “Safe Here In The Shade” rides on jangly guitar infectiousness amidst vocals that warn of impending chaos. “When the storm is coming, I come running,” they begin during a replay-inducing chorus, again showcasing the project’s knack for balancing melodic immediacy with emotively compelling lyricism. Trapt impress with a strong rock sound throughout this EP.
