The new album from Nashville-based band The Welters, For Your Consideration is a no-frills rock success, embracing a blaring ardency across its alt-rock and post-punk maneuvering. While the Nashville scene is prevalent in singer/songwriter acts, The Welters pursue something with more vigor. “We just started to hate putting in a shift at work and not having a way to release that energy through loud, fast and punchy music,” they explain.
An anthemic rock sound conjures a variety of influences — spanning from The Strokes to Interpol and The Killers — though the band retains an original spirit as well across the album’s 11 tracks. “Paperback” is among the standouts, channeling that aforementioned Strokes inspiration with the soaring guitar lines and escalating vocal styling; “Any Color You Like” succeeds with similar aesthetical flair. Elsewhere, “Back For More” invigorates with a touch of post-punk bass-y immersion, echoing Interpol and ’00s indie-rock nostalgia in general. For Your Consideration is a resonating rock success from The Welters.
