Another month, another fantastic EP from Denver-based band Sqwerv. Their heady psych-rock sound continues to enamor on Hors d’Oeuvres Part 2, following up Part 1. The newest EP brings forth a “heavier, drippy guitar-driven rock sound and electric blues,” incorporation, adding further invigoration to their psychedelic rock array.
Opening track “Majk” enthralls with a calming rhythm section and sporadic guitar reflections, as spacey frequencies linger alongside. Soaring guitar lines and blissful organ brightness collide with gorgeous results past the mid-point. “Croc Stomp” follows with that aforementioned electric blues embrace, exciting with its guitar/organ interplay, while “Lately” closes the EP with a tasteful blend of piano twinkling, tender guitars, and soulful vocal heightening.
The band is currently on a summer tour across the country, and no doubt put on a heck of a live show, judging by the atmospheric psych-friendly immersion across these two recent EPs.
