Mat Elliott – “Church Street”

//

The new single from Mat Elliott, “Church Street” is an inventive pop success that balances laid-back sophistication with hooky charisma. A serenely melodic showing from the Halifax, Nova Scotia-based artist, “Church Street” stands out with its sophisti-pop and yacht-funk captivation.

The track’s “there were no rules,” dual-vocal entrancement compels into the title-touting “you found me,” hook, dazzling in its smooth production and sporadic vocal bolstering. “I wasn’t myself,” the lead admits further, punctuated by lovely, lounge-friendly piano additions. “You could see me, I could see you,” they drive into the “you found me, on Church Street,” infectiousness; the songwriting and production shine here and throughout.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
