Hot Dress – “Grave Robin”

/

“Grave Robin” is an enthusiastic rock success from Hot Dress, a band based in East Brunswick, NJ. A burst of guitars sets forth from the get-go, immersing with an excitable vibrancy. The vocals ascend from sporadic momentum into the soaring “ghosts of me,” hook. A dose of early ’00s indie-rock is enjoyably apparent, with the melodic vocals and chirpy guitar work providing a fun entrancement.

Taking aesthetical inspiration from acts like The Strokes and The Rapture, the track excels in its excitably melodic drive and thematic emphasis, which “follows the thoughts of a narrator who is hesitant to move forward after constant reminders from a past lover.” A particularly stirring lead-in before the three-minute turn leads into a final fervent vocal send-off, capping the track off with enjoyable impact.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
