Ferris Hill – “The American West”

//

Exuding a crisply melodic sophisti-pop appeal with a Prefab Sprout reminiscence, “The American West” is a new single from Ferris Hill, a songwriter and producer based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Glistening acoustics are complemented by nostalgic, lush synth flourishes and piano adornments, as the vocals provide a calming introspection. Descriptions of rusty gas pumps and the desert air evoke the “American west,” a fitting visual assortment — as the track was inspired by a road trip Hill took across the American West. The standout track is described by Hill as “a melancholy immersive, song that ruminates on the outdoors, finding inspiration, and Western America.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
