CHAFT – “High” + “Fever”

/

A couple new singles from Boston-based project CHAFT, “High” and “Fever” showcase the eclectic and charismatic rock output from the solo venture of multi-instrumentalist Derek Miller. Prior to moving to Boston, Miller was involved in several bands within the Indiana music scene. CHAFT marks an exciting solo output, strutting a rock-forward immediacy. The two singles come from a forthcoming LP, slated to release in early 2025.

A jangly pop enamoring takes hold on “High,” also emitting a peppy power-pop spirit in the hooky “wanna take you somewhere,” enticing — where harmonious vocal layers meld seamlessly within the crisp guitar layers. “Fever” touts a more funk-laden, psychedelic sound with its peppy percussion and heavy bass throbs, fitting enjoyably within a confident vocal lead. The “can’t quite live with this fever,” hook is stellar, and these two tracks have us firmly anticipating the project’s upcoming LP.

These and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
