Bridging a dark foreboding with a strongly perseverant rock spirit, “The Time Is Calling” is a recent track from Suzaman, an artist based in Santa Fe, Texas. “I was down on my luck, struggling with PTSD after the war and I had some intrusive thoughts about the apocalypse,” Suzaman explains. “So I wrote this catchy hook but mixed it with dark lyrics.” The result is one with amply climactic allure, beckoning visions of looming storm clouds and a time that’s calling.
A swell of momentum assembles as sporadic guitar pulses and fervent vocals intertwine, the latter letting out “our sacrifice has been in vain,” with sweltering emotive appeal as the guitars stretch out their legs further. The title-touting punctuation ends this escalation with strong entrancement. The vocals exhibit an especially compelling range upon the “acid rain,” introspection, while the guitar work captivates past the second half, when a seductive guitar solo takes hold. Full of memorable moments, “The Time Is Calling” is a standout rocker from Suzaman.
